A Heartfelt Thank You to all Chronicle Distribution Volunteers
All things being normal Thursday 18 June 2020 would have seen the Chronicle being delivered for the last time before the summer break.
All things are not normal and the printed copy of the Chronicle was last distributed on Thursday 19 March 2020, just prior to lockdown.
The fact that it did indeed get distributed and delivered to Kibworth & the surrounding villages just demonstrates what a stoic, determined and loyal bunch of volunteers you are and have proved to be over many years.
I am stepping down from my role this month, nine years after I responded to the advert for a volunteer Distribution Manager working alongside Stephen Poyzer and the distribution team. It would be an impossible task to thank you all individually, hence my letter to the online chronicle.
Do you realise that each of you are an important cog of a 135 strong team of volunteers, plus a quantity of relief people too? That team is made up of our driver who collects from the printers, our sorters who prepare your bundles and our distributors who take the bundles to the deliverers. The co operation of Kelly and the staff at the Old Grammar School Hall is an important part too. What a magnificent team you are, each and everyone of you.
Your enthusiasm and commitment to deliver to 5000 plus households each month never ceases to amaze. I applaud you, you are at the sharp end , you are the ‘key workers’ of the Chronicle. Thank you for your support.
Stay safe, take care.
N.B. it is intended that a printed Chronicle will be published again once it is considered safe to do so. In the meantime keep up to date with local rolling news on the new online Chronicle.
