Handel’s Messiah Talk

Previously only performed in theatres, the first performance of the Messiah, in a parish church, took place at Church Langton in 1759. Attendance caused traffic jams, filling every inn in the area!
Former Leicester Mercury’s ‘Mr Leicester’ will be giving an illustrated talk focusing on Handel’s Leicestershire connection with Charles Jennens of Gopsall Hall and William Hanbury, as well as this amazing performance in the parish church at St Peter’s.
