Couch to 5K Graduation Parkrun
A very successful Couch to 5k program has now been completed. We had a great turnout at the Market Harborough parkrun on a lovely sunny Saturday morning.
It was fantastic to see people who could barely run for a couple of minutes without stopping in January completing the 5k distance. And, in most cases with a smile on their face!
A number of regular club runners turned up to run and support. So, it was a great event for the Club as a whole.
Elsewhere, runners have been tackling some long distance events
Edale Skyline Fell Race
Sam Pole took on 21 miles with 4,500ft of climbing in the Peak District, finishing a very impressive 11th of 200+ starters in a time of 3hrs 11min
Rose of The Shires Ultra
Alex Prettyman competed in this 54 Mile Ultra event, taking in the country trails, roads and towpaths of Northamptonshire. A time of 9hrs 37min was enough to secure 12th place overall.
Brighton Marathon
Abby Davies headed to the South Coast for her latest effort over the classic 26.2 Miles distance, joining a field of almost 8,000 runners, and getting round in 4hrs 22min
LOROS Duathlon Fundraiser
Closer to home we joined forces with Kibworth Easy Riders for a charity fundraiser, in aid of LOROS. Over 20 teams took part with each team having a 5k Run / 25k Ride / 5k Run to complete.
A handful of individuals completed all 3 legs, with most teams combining runners and cyclists working together. Although it was an event without official timing there was certainly a competitive edge as the morning went on.
The event was supported by The Coach & Horses in Kibworth, providing an event HQ as well as tea, coffee and copious amounts of post event pizza and chips.
Best of all it has so far raised £450 for LOROS, and from early feedback seems set to be a regular annual event
Club Nights
With the lighter evenings now returning we are able to enjoy the country lanes and fields once again, without the aid of a head torch!
Regular Club Nights are from Fleckney or Saddington on a Tuesday and Kibworth every Thursday
