A Year in the Life of Kibworth & Fleckney Rotary Club
July – Richard Darke Achievement Awards at three local primary schools and the Kibworth High School. Dictionaries were presented to all leavers at the primary schools.
August – Blood Bikes: £250
September – Admiral Nurses/Dementia UK our Presidents Charity for the Year.
October – Parliament Trip: with local MP Neil O’Brien who very supportive of the Dementia Support initiative.
November – Fireworks: 1,500 attended our annual firework display. Fleckney Scouts received £250, Kibworth Scouts £1,000.
December – Trolley dash: Winner dashes around Sainsbury’s for three minutes, filling their trolley with Christmas Fayre. Charities supported – VASL £750, Admiral Nurses for Leicestershire £750.
January – Youth work: A remarkable young blind paralympian, an inspiration to all who heard him speak. We hope to support local youth clubs in the future.
February -Race Night: with Oadby Rotary Club at the Kibworth Golf Club, Profits to Mary’s Meals and Love Support Unite, £600 each.
March – Skillforce Charity: Run mainly by ex-military personnel, in schools inspiring children to realise their potential. £200 donated.
Age Well Event: at the Old Grammar School Hall. Agencies supporting older members of the community. Local doctors and dentists, the local U3A, Bowls Club, Library, Dementia support groups, etc.
April – Theatre Night: at the Harborough Theatre for ‘Lloyd George knew my Father’A sell out with over £1,500 Admiral Nurses.
Heartwize Community Event: John Dehnel and his Heartwize team gave training on CPR to 20 people plus the use of the Defibrillator giving 20 people new life saving skills.
May – Charity night: fundraising evening at the Boboli Restaurant, raised £320 for Coping with Cancer, Market Harborough.
Shelter Box: Following Cyclone Idai we purchased another Shelter Box.(£590)
June – Our Golf Day: Raised in excess of £2,500 for Admiral Nurses.
Other fundraising
We will be donating £1,000 to Rotary Foundation, £250 to polio eradication and we donated £100 to Menphys, a Leicester Charity for children and young people.
