A Memory of Betty Bateman
2nd July 2020 | Letters
I was sad to hear of the passing of Betty when I read the article today (26 June) on the Chronicle’s website. Betty was my neighbour for a good couple of years, and as her obituary stated she was forthright in some opinions but we also had some good laughs as well.
I remember once she knocked on my door after she had bought a weed burner (the flame thrower type on a walking stick). She couldn’t get the can to connect. So I helped her out, and she went on her way. 10 minutes later there was a knock on the door, and as Betty disappeared back home, I saw some of my front hedge on our shared boundary starting to smoke.
My condolences to her family.
