Our Thanks to Sue Buchanan
Sue Buchanan has been organising the distribution of the Kibworth & District Chronicle to 5,000 homes in villages around Kibworth for almost eight years. Each month Sue has checked the availability of volunteers and arranged cover if any are unwell or on holiday.
Over 100 distributors make sure that the Chronicle is delivered to homes in 28 villages; if someone steps down, she has leafletted their distribution area for a new recruit. She has overseen the delivery of the newly printed issues to the Grammar School Hall and the counting into bundles for the different rounds. In addition, she has personally delivered extra copies to those requiring them such as the library or the subscription manager.
We were naturally saddened when she expressed her wish to step down as distribution manager but had no idea how eventful her final distribution would be. The March edition of the Chronicle was published on Thursday 19 March, just before lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. Naturally, some volunteers were already having to be cautious because of health concerns so the logistics of distribution proved to be especially complex. Nonetheless, Sue rose to the challenge and everyone received their Chronicles on time.
We are very grateful to Sue for the energy and enthusiasm with which she has made sure that the Chronicle is safely delivered no matter what the circumstances, even arranging her holidays to fit in with the Chronicle calendar. Sue, you will be a hard act to follow. Thank you very much from all your friends at the Chronicle. Enjoy having more time to explore the countryside and, eventually, further afield.
