The Kibworth On-line Museum
Following the Michael Wood Story of England book and T V series in 2010, which has recently been repeated, the Kibworth Improvement Team (KiT) started a project to capture the history of the Kibworths and Smeeton Westerby in an on-line museum at www.kibworthvillage.co.uk/museum
To date 63 artefacts have been published on the museum site ranging from the suffragette Nellie Taylor of Smeeton Westerby, to the Thomas the Tank Engine illustrator John Kenney of Kibworth Beauchamp, to General Jack of Kibworth Harcourt.
Many people have contributed artefacts, including William McCarthy Professor Emeritus of English at Iowa State University who contributed an article on Anna Laetitia Barbauld, poet, essayist and writer for very young children.
More recently Jenni Molyneux of Worcestershire was researching her ancestors and discovered that two, Rev. Thomas Thomas and John Philipps, lived in The Manor Farmhouse, Kibworth Harcourt.
If any readers have interesting facts or photographs about places, people or events in the three villages please let me know so that I can create new artefacts for the museum. E.mail wrangdyke39@gmail.com.
