GEMS Charity
Can you help GEMS Charity with our new project; to allow the patients in the chemotherapy suite at the Leicester Royal Infirmary to be more comfortable during their cancer treatment please?
We are raising funds to convert a small outside balcony into an inside space for patients to use as a treatment area, and to re-decorate the existing treatment room. All this is at a cost in excess of £225,000. This is the biggest project we have attempted to date and the aim is to raise these funds by March 2022.
The Kings Head at Smeeton is already selling plants for us, so pop down and grab some for your gardens. Sadly, due to the pandemic we are unable to run our annual open gardens, although we hope to start this again next year. The Kings Head are hosting an afternoon tea event instead on the Sunday 11th July 2021. To find out more information please get in touch with Anne (0116) 279 2676 or email us.
We are also looking at holding various other fundraising events, including a golf day and clutter sale later in the year, details will be in future issues of the Chronicle. If you would like to hold your own fundraising event, maybe complete a sponsored walk, a sponsored silence, a cake stall or can donate or help in anyway at all, we would love to hear from you. Just call Sally or Andy (0116) 2793814 or email; gemscharity@gmail.com
