The Railway Arms
I think that I have found the Railway Arms that you were seeking in the “What’s Going on?” section of February’s issue. When the pub was built the actual railway itself, for which it was named, did have arms as well as branch lines. The original owners of the line, The Midland Railway Company and its successor The London Midland and Scottish Railway Company, both had Coats of Arms and these are probably the arms referred to as in numerous other such named pubs around the country. Maybe the original pub was called The Railway Arms, who knows? But today it is The Railway and the only consideration is, that the beer is good, which it is.
