A newly re-opened destination
Stoughton Grange in Oadby has recently been taken over by The Steamin’ Billy group who have undertaken some major development works over the past few months:
The Cow & Plough
The Cow & Plough has had a sympathetic refurbishment and now features an al fresco dining area and a wood-fired stone-baked pizza shack. A one-acre kitchen garden supplies the restaurant menu with most of their fresh, seasonal produce.
Stoughton Grange Farm Shop
Stoughton Grange Farm Shop has recently opened after a major overhaul of the former dairy’s milking parlour. It features a 50-foot-long butchery, deli, cake and cheese counter, and a cafe. An artisan area is dedicated to local producers of jewellery, greetings cards, furniture, arts & crafts. Also a huge selection of foodstuffs and drinks. The emphasis is on local producers and suppliers such as Kingarth Dairy, Fosse Meadows Farm, Launde Abbey, Belvoir Drinks, Hambleton Bakery, Clarke’s & Zest frozen meals, etc.
The on-site butchers also make amazing pies, Scotch eggs, sausage rolls and pork pies. Fresh produce grown in the on-site polytunnels is also available. Christmas Markets are planned for Friday 18 November and Saturday 3 December. There are hundreds of Christmas trees on sale from late November. Just to let you know Santa’s grotto will be available from Saturday 3 December every weekend and during the week of Christmas.
The former Stoughton Grange Farm Park has also made a welcome return after closing down in 2001. There are now pigs, Shetland ponies, sheep, goats and alpacas in the fields dotted around the 15-acre woodland site and various picnic areas alongside the stunning lakeside walks. There are also glamping pods available to book with a lakeside wedding venue to come next summer. The farm shop is open 9am-5pm Monday to Thursday, 9am-6pm Friday and Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday
Stoughton Grange Distillery is opening mid-November and will produce small batch gins using botanicals collected from around the woodland site.
Other places to visits
Other new businesses at the site include Petite Street Play Village, Nature’s Play (outdoor play for under 5’s) and Fazakerley Homeware and Gifts
All of this and the long-standing Lollipops Pottery Studio will make for the most perfect family trip.
