Bishop Martyn’s Lenten Pilgrimage – Saturday 11 March

The Bishop of Leicester is planning to use the weekends during Lent to make pilgrimages to many of the smaller churches in the Diocese. On Saturday 11 March he will be in Gartree Deanery, in the Chronicle’s locality, spending the day walking and praying at and in between different churches and communities. He will welcome companions to walk with him for all or part of the day or to meet him on the way to share in his time of prayer and walking.

Bishop Martyn will start at Foxton church at 8.30am with Morning Prayer and then continue to Gumley via the Grand Union canal and the Leicestershire Round footpaths, arriving around 10am for prayers at the church. From here he will continue along the Leicestershire Round to Saddington church, arriving at 11.30am and later walk on to arrive at Smeeton Westerby church at about 12.45pm.

In the afternoon, Bishop Martyn will start at Carlton Curlieu church with prayers at 2.45pm and then walk to Burton Overy church for tea and evening prayers.

For more information about the day please contact the Lay Chair of the Deanery, Gordon Arthur (gda@jca.myzen.co.uk) or organisers Eleanor and Neil Logue (contact@thestablehouse.co.uk). There will be further information published in Diomail and through the churches.
