Illston WI Feb 23
Our first meeting of the year was testing the ‘little grey cells’ of members of Illston on the Hill WI. We all enjoyed a quiz, some music, current affairs, musicals, sorting out first letters of villages, tv programmes, flowers and much more.
We had teams of four and everyone really enjoyed it. We had one team who were outright winners, the other teams were thanked for taking part – no wooden spoon!
We ended with lovely refreshments and the competition this month was something beginning with J. The winning entry was a framed version of Jerusalem. What else could it be for WI?
Sharing savoury recipes
Next month we have a ‘savoury taste and try’ evening. We all bring samples of something we have made (or bought) together with the recipe and then we munch our way through. Mmmm lovely.
Save the date
A note for your diary: Following the success of the SOS Fashion show last year, we are holding another show on Thursday 9 March in Illston Village Hall. Lots of latest fashions from Next, M&S and other major outlets. Everyone is welcome.
It is with great sadness we have to report that one of our very long-standing members, Mavis Green, passed away suddenly last week. It was a terrible shock to us all as she was really on good form at the quiz. Mavis had been a member for over 30 years and she also served on the committee. She will be sadly missed and we extend our sympathy to son Adam, wife Hannah and the children.
