Kibworth Cricket Club – Apr ’23
It is that time of year again when cricket begins – if this rain ever stops and the outfield dries. After wintering well the players and members cannot wait to get started at KCC.
It has been a busy winter off the field with investment in our netting facility as well as keeping the ground and clubhouse maintained. A huge thanks to all who have volunteered to keep things looking great through the quieter months. There have also been plenty of social events and private parties filling the clubhouse. As the sun peeks through, it is on field where our full focus is. What a busy summer we have in store.
League Season
Our league season starts on Saturday the 22 April. The first team are hoping to retain the Leicestershire & Rutland League title. Our second team also kick off the league campaign on the same date. They follow this on Sunday 23 April with a trip to Revesby in Lincolnshire for a campaign in the National Village Knock-Out Cup. The youthful looking 3rd and 4th teams start their league season on the same weekend.
The women’s section is starting to thrive. We have had several fresh players joining as we look to develop our women’s and girls’ section through 2023. And let us not forget our junior section with over 300 kids already registered for junior training and matches through the summer.
Finally, this month, we are excited to announce our ground has been chosen as host venue for Leicestershire’s One Day Cup clash with Essex Eagles on 15 August. A maiden first XI visit for the Leicestershire 1st XI to KCC. Tickets are on sale through the Leicestershire club website, and we look forward to welcoming visitors to the game. We will be collaborating with our neighbours locally as well as local businesses to provide support for the event to ensure we continue to Do the Right Thing.
