‘Place the body near the beginning of your book—preferably on the first page, perhaps the first sentence’ – Louise Penny
You may or may not be surprised to learn that crime thrillers are the most popular books people borrow from the library. There are clearly many of us who love getting absorbed in the intricacies of a murder mystery. There is a theory that both crime and romantic fiction readers are driven by the search for conclusive answers and happy endings. The killer being safely locked up is as much a happy ending as finding Mr or Ms Right.
Jane Isaac
We are thrilled (excuse the pun) to have the international best-selling crime author, Jane Isaac, with us in the library on Tuesday 26 September. Jane lives in Northamptonshire with her detective husband, very good for research! She has written three, very successful, series of detective books and two standalone psychological thrillers.
Her talk begins at 2pm, doors open at 1.30pm. Tickets are £5 and are available from the library. The price includes tea / coffee and delicious homemade cakes. If you are one of our many lovers of crime fiction then don’t miss it.
John Beatty
We are also delighted to be welcoming John Beatty, international nature traveller and photographer, to give a talk on the evening of Wednesday 8 November, this time in Kibworth Grammar School Hall. Please see the separate article about him and details of the event. John also has ties to Kibworth as his family lives here. If you are passionate about our beautiful planet then please come along to hear him and see his wonderful photographs.
Our monthly Book Sale is on Saturday 14 October from 10am – 12pm and there will also be Lego for sale!! We have generously been donated numerous sets including Star Wars, Harry Potter, Super Heroes (e.g. Batman & Superman), Lord of the Rings and The Simpsons as well as a lot of mini figures.
