‘Come Together’ Harvest Thanks
St Wilfrid’s Church, extends a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to, and supported, our fabulous ‘Come Together’ Harvest Service on Sunday 1st October. We were overwhelmed by the contributions of store cupboard foods and fresh produce, which have been passed on to the Food Bank at The Well. Also, the wonderful array of potted plants and floral displays for distribution to the recently bereaved, sick or isolated in our community, and to our local care homes.
The church was open on Saturday 30th September for visitors to share tea and cake and view the stunning harvest displays donated by local organisations. Our sincere thanks go out to: Bridge 67, Kibworth Allotment Society, Kibworth Art Lovers Society, Kibworth Community Library, Kibworth Primary School, Kibworth & Smeeton W.I., Lunchstop, Mothers’ Union, Sparklers and The Well.
Our harvest service began with a very well-attended breakfast in the hall, and a peal of bells welcomed around 150 adults and children to an eclectic mix of traditional and modern songs, puppets, harvest talks, and guest contributions from 1st Kibworth Cubs and Kibworth Ladies’ Choir. To close the service, the congregation sang ‘We Plough the Fields and Scatter’ as packets of seeds, kindly donated by the library, were distributed by the children.
Finally, and very importantly, thank you to everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes to make our first ‘Come Together’ weekend such a fantastic success: the organisers, musicians, technical team, refreshments providers, floral display team, children’s workers, harvest gift distributors, wardens and welcomers – we couldn’t have done it without you!
We hope that everyone who attended at any time over the weekend enjoyed their experience; all are welcome at any of our services. For more information please visit: www.stwilfridskibworth.co.uk, email: wilfs.kibworth@gmail.com, Tel: 0116 279 6577.
