Demolition of the Station Road, Kibworth bridge

Station Road, Kibworth bridge was demolished over the weekend of 21 and 22 September 2013. Ten years ago.

The road reopened virtually on Christmas Eve. The replacement bridge units were precast in Ireland and brought to Kibworth by low-loading lorries before being installed by enormous cranes.

During the closure of the road, a temporary footbridge was installed adjacent to the road bridge.
Readers may remember that the temporary footbridge was used as a temporary photo-gallery for a month before it was finally disassembled.

The new temporary footbridge which is currently being installed will be an opportunity to repeat the photo gallery. Readers please continue to take pictures of the work that is going on and be ready to submit them in the coming months.
