News from Smeeton Westerby – February 2024
With so many events happening in Smeeton Westerby over the Christmas period, we ended up with a relaxing and quiet January. However, The Kings Head came up trumps with their Burns’ Night Supper on Thursday 25 January where a three course meal was served, the main dish naturally being haggis, neeps and tatties with whisky sauce. There was a variety of whiskies to wash everything down with. Not surprisingly, a great time was had by all.
It is wonderful to see our local pub really flourishing. Their next event was on Wednesday 14 February, Valentines night, where again a special supper was served.
So what else have we planned for the next few months?
On Saturday 16 March, 7.00 for 7.30pm in Smeeton Westerby village hall, we are delighted to have Tony Harris, historian, comedian and raconteur joining us again, this time with his performance of Winston Churchill. This will be a really great night we know. We firstly serve supper and then Tony will perform for us. This is the third time he will have entertained us in our village hall, firstly as Henry V111 and then as Sherlock Holmes. To ensure you get a ticket please ring Janet on 07950 409 610 or 0116 279 2810. The tickets cost £15 and we ask that you bring your own drinks and glasses.
As we move into April we are delighted to welcome again Main Street and Kibworth Theatre Companies to entertain us with a spoof ‘Who Done it’ supper evening.
The dates are Friday 12 and Saturday 13 April, 7.00 for 7.30pm. Again supper will be served and then the fun can begin. These nights always go down a storm, so please book early so as not to miss out. Tickets are £15 and of course, we ask you to bring your own drinks.
To book your tickets for this, please ring Philippa on 0116 279 3841.
