Kibworth & Fleckney Rotary Club Leaps into Action
Reporting Success
Following the disappointment of the Fireworks cancellation last year, the Rotary Club are delighted to report some successes already this year.
New lady members welcome
Firstly, we have a new lady member in June Alexander. June moved up to Kibworth from Dorset a year ago. Having had links with Inner Wheel and Rotary before, she knew that our club would welcome her.
She became a full member earlier this year and has just given the club her ‘Job Talk’. June was involved with the development of computer systems, working with IBM and part of their training team. She was part of a minority of women in IT in her early working life, but perhaps a trail blazer for the many women who have followed her.
Rotary has been dual gender for many years now and our club would welcome more ladies, from our area, who might wish to join us. Rotary has an international reach but we concentrate on supporting our local community.
Successful fundraisers
We are also pleased to report a very successful fundraising evening. The Club staged one of the Leicester Comedy Festival events on Thursday 15 February, at the Kibworth Community Hub (formerly known as Old grammar Scholl Hall.)
150 folk attended and they were entertained by three comedians who dished out a much needed tonic of laughter. The Rotary Club ran a bar, and a good time was had by all. £1500 was raised for the nominated charity, Leicester Memory Box. This will help them continue their great work in the county, supporting and entertaining those living with dementia.

With the success of this new fundraiser it is likely we will repeat the Comedy Festival event again next year.
Other Rotary events this year are our Charity Golf Day on Friday 7 June and Bonfire & Fireworks, at the new venue of Kibworth Golf Club, on Saturday 2 November.
If any local businesses would like to sponsor our golf day please contact Simon Nickson- Nickson821@btinternet.com
