Kibworth Mead Academy – March 2024
We have had a really positive spring term so far at KMA.
Friday 1 March was National Offer day when families across the country found out which secondary school their child would be attending. We were delighted that so many families have chosen to send their Year 6 child to be part of our community. We have written to all families who were successful in getting a place at KMA to wish them a warm welcome as they join us in September, and to share with them our plans to support their child’s successful transition. If you were hoping to get a place at KMA but were not successful please contact admissions@kibworth-tmet.uk.
In our first week back after February half-term we welcomed a team of Ofsted inspectors to KMA for our long overdue graded inspection. Whilst the detail of the report remains confidential until publication, we can confirm that we are very pleased that the Ofsted team agreed with our own evaluation of the school.
During the inspection we were incredibly proud of our students and how they consistently demonstrated our values of ‘work hard, be kind and be proud’. This was something recognised by the inspection team who were effusive with praise for our young people and commented on how polite, friendly and well-mannered they were in every interaction. Another area of school life the Ofsted team praised was our hardworking, knowledgeable and dedicated staff body. Once the report is published we will make it available on our website.
It has also been a really positive term on the sports field. Our students have competed in a range of sports including football, netball, badminton, rugby and basketball. Highlights included our Year 8 boys’ football team winning the Blaby and Harborough final against a strong Thomas Estley side and then delivering a 3.1 win against Rawlins Academy, taking us to the semi-finals in the County Cup. Our Year 7 girls augmented this success by winning the Blaby and Harborough football final to become area champions. We were also exceptionally proud of all our badminton teams at both KS3 and KS4 who have won virtually every fixture this term.
This half- term also heralds the final rehearsals for Sister Act, our much-awaited musical, which will be performed at Kibworth Grammar School Hall on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 March. Our school building has been echoing with songs and speeches after hours as students support each other to practice their lines. Tickets will be available for parents via the MCAS app. If members of the wider community would like to attend please contact the school.

As we head towards Easter students who have upheld the school’s values will be recognised with a number of exciting reward events. KMA have collaborated with the The Well to provide the top 15 reward point achievers in Y11 with a special lunch at their fantastic cafe, and the lucky students who achieve this reward are looking forward to their sumptuous cakes. Furthermore, 400 of our students are set to achieve bronze reward status this term, earning a ‘Film in the Hall’ event with refreshments. Finally, 200 of our stunning students have been awarded silver reward status, and so will attend an inflatables, giant games and slush machine event. It is amazing to see so many of our students being rewarded for demonstrating the school’s values and we are extremely proud to host our biggest set of rewards to date.
