Kibworth Band
After our good result at the Area Contest, we have had our celebrations and are now back to reality and thinking of financing for our trip to Cheltenham in September. To this end we are looking at a concert with the Youth Band in June and another Proms Concert in conjunction with The Well later in the year.
Youth Group
In the meantime it’s business as usual. We wanted to make mention of our youth group and the opportunities this can bring to the youth of Kibworth and the surrounding area. Sam Haigh, our principal trombone, is a music teacher in local schools and currently conducts the youth groups.
Both groups practise on a Monday night.
- Real beginners from 5.00 to 5.45pm
- Improvers from 6.15 to 7.15pm.
Instruments are provided free of charge. In order to cover the cost of music etc, we do ask for a donation of £10 per month for each child.
The Youth Band have some ‘engagements’ to allow them to perform to an audience. They recently toured local schools to showcase their talents, and hopefully encourage some new recruits.
Success Stories
Ciaran and Isaac both of whom, as well as playing in the Senior Band, are members of The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain. Alex together with his sister Erin. Izzy and Toby who are full members of the Senior Band.
