Methodist Matters – April 2024
A Message from Rev Andy Murphy
We have just passed through the Easter season and when we look at the world around us, we are always given a choice. We can choose to believe that the darkness will eventually win, that life is hopeless and empty, or we can choose a God of love, who is working through people of faith to bring love and hope, goodness and purpose.
God is working through the hardship and pain of this life and is saying to us in Jesus Christ that death will not win, evil will not win, our human failure and sin will not have the final word.
In our church, we believe that Christ is risen, love wins, and life is worth living. So please remember: we are never alone. Whatever you are going through, we hope you will find the support you need to hold on.
Come and join us one Sunday in worship and fellowship; let us encourage one another, and together let us make small steps towards a day when Paradise will be restored, through the one who died, and lives, for us.
21 April – Café Church for St George’s Day
This Sunday, at 10.30am, we will be looking ahead to St George’s Day on 23 April 2024. Who was St George? Was he English? Why is he our Patron Saint? What about the Dragon? During our service we will be examining all these questions, as well as singing many well-known hymns and songs.
5 May – SPACE informal worship (5pm)
Our weekly service is at 10.30am; but our monthly additional service is this month entitled ‘Finding the right words’.
12 May – Café Church
If you enjoy services conducted in a more informal setting; our own minister, Rev Andy Murphy, will this month be leading our service.
19 May – Pentecost Sunday
Our Communion Service will be led by Revs Alison and Dave Tomlin. Both are regular leaders of our services. They are retired ministers, and Alison was the head of the Methodist Church (the President of Conference) in 2010/2011.
