St Wilfrid’s Church
On 20 March, Kibworth Primary School’s Year 5 students visited St Wilfrid’s Church to experience ‘The Road to Calvary’, and learn about the final days of Jesus’ life before his crucifixion on Good Friday, and about his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
We have a fantastic link with the school, holding events throughout the year in both the church and school. We are delighted to welcome Year 3 to ‘Prayer Spaces’ at St Wilfrid’s on Wednesday 24 April when they will ‘Pause, Reflect, Ask, and Say Yes’ through conversation, sharing and activities.
What else does St Wilfrid’s offer young people?
- ‘9.30 Express’ on the first Sunday of the month. A 30 minute service including songs, puppets, Bible story, prayer, laughter and love, followed by breakfast in the hall.
- New Mums on a Monday. Every Monday (except Bank Holidays) from 10am-12noon. A friendly space for mums with babies up to one year old, including tea, coffee, croissants and chat in the hall.
- Sparklers. Fridays 1.30-3pm in term time. We start in church with a Bible story and songs, then move to the hall for refreshments, craft and play. All preschool children and their parent or carer are welcome.
- Youth Group. On the first Sunday of the month from 5-7pm. Games, pizza and drinks, Bible and prayer time for 7-12 year olds. A parent must drop off and collect.
- Sunday Storytime during every Sunday service. We begin in church then move to the hall for a story and craft, re-joining the service to ‘show and tell’.
All of the above are planned and run by our small team of Children and Family workers and volunteers. All of whom give their time freely. We wouldn’t be able to offer these groups, events and services without the dedication of our amazing unpaid team. Lent Lunches
Many thanks to all who made soup, helped in any way or attended the four Lent Lunches this year. Thanks to generous donations we are able to send £250 to the charity Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) which provides medical care in areas of conflict.
Spring Fayre
Thank you to everyone who supported our first Spring Fayre on 23 March. We raised a wonderful £426.90. This will be put towards the installation of an additional monitor in the Church.
Annual Parochial Church Meeting
Our APC meeting takes place on Wednesday 24 April at 7.30pm in the Church Hall. Everyone is welcome.
The Flag Pole
Storm Kathleen wreaked havoc on the Church Flag Pole on 6 April, causing significant damage to the tower roof. Thank you to everyone who contacted the Church, and special thanks to the crew from Kibworth Fire & Rescue Station who came out to make sure that there was no imminent danger, then subsequently removed the pole. The damage is being assessed prior to making a decision about its replacement.
