The Friends of St Wilfrid’s are hosting their next fundraising concert on Saturday 1 June at 2pm in the Church Hall, featuring the ‘Tiny Capers’ quartet with Lisa Millett on vocals. Incorporating a mix of traditional and modern jazz and soul, this is set to be an afternoon not to be missed! The Friends of St Wilfrid’s has been raising vital funds since 1996 to maintain the fabric of the church for current and future generations to enjoy.
Update on St Wilfrid’s Church
You will hopefully have noticed that the clock is now finally working… like clockwork! This is thanks to our specialist, Wayne Francis, who has been travelling from Boston, Lincolnshire over the past couple of years to restore and repair the clock and three dials. The clock dates back to 1834 and was manufactured by John Haddon of West Hanbury, Northants.
The flagpole, damaged by Storm Kathleen on 6 April, is due to be removed soon and discussions are taking place about a possible alternative means of flying our flags. The damage to the roof can then be assessed and the necessary repairs take place.
