News from Smeeton Westerby

We were so delighted to welcome so many people to, not only our first ‘CoCo’ morning but also our ‘Wilder Westerby’ event, that once again we are inviting everyone to join us for Coffee and Conversation (and of course cake!) at Smeeton Village Hall on Wednesday 17 July, 10.30am – 12 noon, when we will also have more information about our wildlife project. Hopefully, this time the sun will be shining and we will be able to sit in our hall’s gorgeous little garden.

Talking of sitting outside, this is a reminder that our annual Brass on the Grass event with the fabulous Oddfellows Brass band will be taking place on Sunday 30 June. From 5.30pm, we will be serving Pimms, Prosecco, Lager and Langton Brewery Beer, as well as strawberries and cream! Just come along with a chair or blanket to sit on and enjoy a glorious summer musical evening. In the unlikely event of it raining, you will find everyone in the church!

After that, our next event will be a Driving Treasure Hunt on Sunday 18 August from 2pm and finishing at The Kings Head. For more details ring Janet on 07950 409 610.

Next we have our Summer BBQ which will be held on the field behind the Christ Church, on bank holiday Monday, 26 August from 5pm. Again we will be serving Langton Brewery beer but we do ask you to bring any other drinks and plastic glasses that you might need, along with your meat to BBQ (there will be one for vegetarians) and the rest of your picnic. Although we can provide some chairs, it would be great if you could bring your own. If you would like to bring a gazebo, that is fine too. As you are walking or driving through our village you might have noticed that The Kings Head have now opened their new Café at the Kings’. On a Friday 9am-2pm, Saturday 9am-3pm and Sunday 9am-11.30am, you will find cooked breakfasts, brunch and of course tea, coffee and delicious homemade cakes. So why not pop down and treat yourselves?
