Methodist Matters – September 2024

Greetings to all readers from Kibworth Methodist Church. If you are new to Kibworth or one of the surrounding villages, we can be found in School Road (just off the High Street, opposite the Post Office). Our Sunday Service is at 10.30am and Kibworth Methodist Pre-School meets in our premises throughout the week.

Our weekly service is led by a variety of ministers, local preachers and members of the congregation. If you wish to discuss Baptisms, Marriages or Funerals, you should contact our minister, Rev Andy Murphy (01858 462889 – Email: geordie_smurf@hotmail.com).

Sunday 29 September is special @ KMC. At 10.30am we celebrate our Harvest Festival, followed by a Harvest Lunch. In addition, we will remember that 150 years ago this month (1874) the church re-opened following an increase in its size and the addition of our ‘schoolroom’ on the side. We will also be giving thanks for the life of our oldest member – 100 years old the following week and still regularly attending services. Everyone, young and old, is welcome to join us.

On Sunday 20 October, we will be holding a ‘Songs of Praise’ Service; so if you like to sing a selection of well-known hymns/songs, come along at 10.30am on this occasion.

Liar! The minister told the congregation he would preach the following week about lying. Before then, he asked them to read Mark Chapter 17. The next Sunday he asked those who had read the bible passage to raise their hands. He then proceeded to preach on lying – Mark only has 16 chapters!
