What’s Going On In Kibworth? Parklife
Smeeton Road Recreation Area Makeover
It looks like the final piece of the jigsaw has been put into place with the Queen’s Jubilee walk now complete with new seating and trees and the armillary sphere/astronomical sundial.
We thank the Joint Recreation Committee of the Harcourt and Beauchamp Parish Councils for upgrading this leisure facility: a delightful area for all to enjoy.
Warwick Park Recreation Area hasn’t been neglected either. The new skatepark area is a wonderful facility used by people of many ages. When the children are in school there have been a few more mature youngster trying it out . Additional seating is apparently on its way too! The formal opening took place on Saturday 7 September in front of many children and their parents when the ribbon was cut by Strawbz. Our photo shows the actual moment!
CANVAS, the building and design company, then organised a couple of hours of competitions which were eagerly seized upon by the willing participants. A great afternoon was had by all.
CANVAS also donated a framed design of the skatepark to members of the Parish Council who had advertised the event on behalf of this company on social media.
Children’s Recreation Areas on the new estate have also finally been completed over the summer.
Talking about making Kibworth a beautiful place to live, the refuges near the bus stop in the Square have been much improved from the very weedy containers that were there earlier in the summer. Great job here.
The Grammar School Bridge – this is what it is called on the Network Rail schedule – has finally been completed. Should we have a party on the bridge to celebrate? Amazingly the last thing to happen was the installation of the very tall street lamps.
Thank you to all those involved in the improvement to our local community.
