Monica Mary Theresa Griffiths
It is with much sadness that I belatedly share with you the news of the passing of Monica Griffiths; a much loved member of our village community. Monica died at Leicester Royal Infirmary on 4 June after a short illness.
Monica was a wonderful teacher and there will be scores – no hundreds – of her former pupils and their families who will be saddened to hear of her passing.
She started working at Fleckney Primary School on 1 September 1973 and stayed there for 36 years! After retiring on 31 August 2009, Monica continued to teach by tutoring Maths students but also generously gave much of her time helping others by volunteering in the GEMS charity shop, and the Kibworth Library, (often supplying memorable cakes!), and with her involvement as a member of the Kilby W.I.
She always put others before herself, never spoke unkindly of others and her kindness and sense of humour were legendary.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Monica’s sister Angela, brother-in-law Peter, nephew Tom, niece Jane, and close friends and neighbours Claire and Suzy.
