Fleckney and Kibworth Running Club Oct 2024
Fleckney and Kibworth running club have made the most of races and events far and wide recently.
Road Races
In road races – Rowan Thompson and Beth English ran the Northampton half marathon; Rowan finishing in an impressive time of 1:31, while Beth finished in 2:38 – completing her first half marathon. Dan Pedley completed the Vitality London 10,000 in a time of 55:59. Further afield, John Clampin (and daughter) completed the Amsterdam Marathon in 5:12.
The road running league season ended with Markfield 10km. Steve King was first in for the club in a time of 42:09, followed by Pete Bennett (50:38), James Bull (50:46), Bernie Owen (52:03), John Clampin (52:59), Dan Pedley (55:42), Andy Kemp (01:03:28), Fawzia Kauser (01:08:29), Rebecca Taylor (01:15:47), Gary Lawrence (01:16:03)
Leicester Runs
The Leicester Half and Leicester 10km were well attended by the run club, perfect conditions led to fantastic results. For the half marathon, first in was Steve King in a great time of 1:31:33, followed by Rachel Earland (1:59:15), Pete Bennett (1:59:23), Alan Gibson (2:00:15), Jo Wood (2:02:01), Dan Pedley (2:04:24), Emma Boyd (2:05:32), Lucy Earland (2:14:40), Steve West (2:27:52), Fawzia Kauser (2:32:25), Emma Moore (2:33:44) and Rebecca Taylor (2:53:48). For the 10K race, first in was Abby Jackson (58:35), Andy Kemp (59:44), Jenny McNair (01:16:19), Megan Lloyd (1:19:45), Gary Lawrence (1:23:49), Tracey Coates (1:32:20).
Sam Pole took on the challenge of the Three Shires fell race, finishing 48th in a time of 2:38:53, a great result in a strong field of runners. Sam also completed the Peak Raid race; an ‘anytime’ race of four routes with cumulative points. Sam finished 5th overall and 1st in his age category.
The much-enjoyed Croft Canter was completed by an all-ladies team. Leda, Tracey, Maria, Jenny, Ruth, Emily all benefitted with mild conditions and with two climbs of Croft Hill, it made it a race with great views!
Shepshed 7 race was represented by Fawzia Kauser and Steve West who finished in times of 1:18:16 and 1:18:44 respectively.
The Cross Country (XC) season is now underway, with the first race at Bagworth Heath, with some club members running their first XC race with superb results.
Many club members took part in a Club Handicap 4-mile race; this was much enjoyed by all with great times and results.
Equinox 24 was a highlight for the club this year – despite the torrential rain on day two! Three teams, some solo runners and even juniors (fun run) took part in running 10km laps of the stunning Belvoir Castle grounds over 24 hours. All teams dug deep, and team spirit was aplenty, especially during the latter, damper hours.
In recent weeks, some of the club members thoroughly enjoyed a weekend trip to the Lake District. Various walks, fell runs and even a swim were carried out; Wainwright ‘bagging’ was aplenty.
