Peter Barker
In our October meeting the Kibworth Art Lovers were treated to a masterclass in painting with pastels by Uppingham artist and gallery owner, Peter Barker. Peter is a self-taught artist bringing a fresh approach to painting in oils and pastels. As a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists, his paintings have won him awards. For our evening, Peter chose a scene from the Lake District to demonstrate his technique. Peter sketched in the outline of the wooded scene and added some rough background colour. He then gradually brought the image into focus with soft pastels chosen ‘to replicate the subtle colours of nature’. The final painting was much admired by our members and visitors.
Olivier Leger
Our next meeting, Tuesday 26 November, Kibworth Community Hub at 7pm, is not to be missed. We are pleased to be welcoming highly acclaimed Ocean Wildlife Artist, Olivier Leger. Oliver will present his amazing surreal imaginative drawings exploring ecology, biology and nature, under the heading ‘Treasures of the Deep’. Visitors are warmly welcome. Meetings of the Kibworth Art Lovers are relaxed, friendly evenings with time for refreshments and a chat with the guest artist. Entry is £5 for non-members but, for an annual subscription, members can enjoy eight meetings during the year with opportunities to exhibit and sell their work. At the Kibworth branch of the MHBS, paintings by Janet Alderson-Smith are on display, to be followed by a Christmas decorative piece in December.
