Fleckney & Kibworth Running Club – December 2024
It’s been a brilliant year for Fleckney & Kibworth Running Club, with some fantastic achievements at races, great progress from our new members and some really enjoyable social events along the way.
As the year begins to draw to a close we can reflect on a very positive 2024.
Leading up to Christmas we look forward to our Leicester Lights Run, and Christmas Party which is always a great way to end the year.

Derby 10 Mile
A really popular, scenic, flat and fast race that took place on 17 November. Steve King from the club ran a very quick time of 68.00. Great effort Steve!
Tunnel Vision Night Run
An event that’s slightly different from the normal league races, but growing in popularity. This 5 mile race from 7-8th November takes runners through the Oxendon Tunnel, at 422m long this old railway tunnel provides a unique experience, especially in the pitch black! Runners have the option of running the route at night or competing in the Dawn run the next day. Anyone looking to push themselves even further can take part in both! A few of our members took part with a mixture of Night & Dawn runners.
1st home for the club was Jim Hawley with a time of 40:15, Emma Boyd (45:12), Steve West (51:46), Aileen Collins (54:27), Gary Lawrence (60:09), Rebecca Taylor (66:02), and Fran Gould (72:49). Well done all.
Silverstone 10K Run Fest 2024
Another diverse and popular event at Silverstone Race Circuit on 24th November. A great opportunity to improve speed and endurance as you sprint down the iconic Hangar Straight. Barbara Blunt from the club completed the race in a time of 1:03:29. Well done Barbara!
Cardington Cracker
Counting down to Christmas, on 1st of December two of our runners took on the Cardington Cracker, a really popular 9 mile Fell Race in Shropshire, with 2602ft of climb! An extremely punishing course but well done to Sam Pole (‘Tad’) and Emma Boyd for completing it. Tad finished the race in 10th place overall with an impressive time of 01:29:04, and Emma (02:35:48). Congratulations both.
