Kibworth Mead Academy
At Kibworth Mead Academy we want our young people to develop into well-rounded citizens who are able to make a difference in their community. This is underpinned by our values of work hard, be kind, be proud, which permeate every aspect of KMA life. As part of our emphasis on developing students holistically, we place strong emphasis on the extra-curricular opportunities on offer.
We are really proud that we regularly have nearly a fifth of our student population on site after school engaging in a wide range of enrichment activities.
After school clubs this term have ranged from coding to creative writing, and from kindness club to Warhammer. Sporting clubs and fixtures this term include basketball, netball, football, rugby and table tennis. In addition to this we have our performing arts clubs including our school show rehearsals, as our talented students excitedly prepare for their performance of ‘Matilda’ at Kibworth Grammar School Hall in April 2025.
Over 30 talented musicians, singers and drama students recently took part in our Performing Arts Winter Showcase.
The evening was an opportunity for some of our students to showcase their incredible skills; with beginners all the way through to some of our most accomplished performers. One Year 7 musician played the piano beautifully as the audience entered and three Year 7 singers switched on our Christmas tree lights to set the festive atmosphere!
Students from across the school were involved in the evening from rock and jazz bands, solo singers, pianists and groups of singers. Musical acts were punctuated by Drama students reading from Carol Ann Duffy’s ‘Another Night Before Christmas’ and it really was a ‘Kibworth Proud’ moment!
At KMA we count down to the Christmas break with our Twelve Days of Christmas. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the festive season as a school community and bring excitement to our students and staff. Our festivities began on Thursday, 5 December, with the Great KMA Bake Off, where students and staff whisked, baked, and decorated their way to creating some truly impressive treats. On Friday, 6 December, we continued the celebration with Christmas Trivia Quizzes during form time.
For the remaining days before the end of term we have a variety of exciting activities planned. Students will decorate their tutor rooms with festive cheer, spreading kindness through random acts of generosity, and engage in creative projects such as making Christmas bookmarks and submitting winter-themed poetry and artwork.
We’ll also be hosting fun activities like a penalty shoot-out challenge against staff and rewarding students with film and popcorn events as part of our Bronze Awards celebrations. Other highlights include Christmas Jumper Day, a festive school dinner, a whole-school Carol Sing-a-Long, and a special non-uniform day to mark the end of term.
