News from Smeeton Westerby – Dec 2024
Well, Christmas has certainly now arrived in Smeeton! How lovely to see the decorations starting to be put up both in and outside of the houses. It certainly brings Christmas cheer to the village.
We started our celebrations with our Christmas Fayre. It was lovely to see the childrens’ faces as they dragged their parents through the tables and stalls to visit Santa. This year we welcomed some new stall holders as well as those that have been coming for some time. The aim of the afternoon, was not to make lots of money but to make it accessible to all and to have fun and this we certainly did.
Then on Thursday 5 December, The Kibworth Ladies Choir brought their Christmas Concert to Christ Church. It was positively beautiful and our candlelit church made the perfect setting. The audience, who had braved the blustery weather, all had the best of times and were very complimentary.
The last time we held such a candlelit evening, was for our Choral Evensong with the talented Tudor Choir back in November. Nearly 100 people attended that event and once again, it was so well received.
