Christmas Celebrations

As the year was drawing to a close, we looked forward to our Christmas party on 12 December. Members choose to bring either a savoury or a sweet dish for sharing, which always results in a delicious buffet.

On arrival, members were delighted to see the festive decorations in the hall at the Community Hub with not one, but three Christmas trees. A large, twinkling star suspended from the ceiling and strings of lights along the walls. The committee had laid the tables with pretty decorations and, as usual. Wendy brought a beautiful floral arrangement for the buffet table, where everyone placed their mouth-watering contributions.

This year the entertainment was several rounds of table quizzes and ‘feely bags’. Organised by Beverley Taylor, our out-going President, with background music playing.

This meant members could enjoy the food at leisure, while chatting and laughing as they tried to solve the puzzles. Members of the committee hosted the evening, pouring wine & other drinks, then making tea and coffee to round off the evening.

Beverley gave special thanks from us all to Wendy Food, who received a voucher for a favourite restaurant. Wendy is a talented flower arranger and we look forward to her creations each month. Ann Holtum, standing down from the committee, was thanked for her work and received a glass gift created by Beverley. Gerry and John, our special ‘Chairmen’ were given chocolates to thank them for arranging tables and chairs for us each month. Then it was Beverley’s turn, when Teresa Bottomley, our incoming President, thanked her on behalf of all of our members for her tremendous hard work over the last two years. Beverley received a colourful, festive arrangement of plants in a basket.

2025

It was a relaxed and convivial evening. Nnow we are looking forward to another full and varied programme for 2025. Our 9 January meeting, ‘Dance for Everyone’, with Ginette Brookes , sounds like fun, then on 13 February Brian Johnson will talk about ‘Valencia – a surprising city’.

Our meetings are on the second Thursday of the month, 7.30pm at KCH.
