Tim Orton
25 September 1948 – 29 October 2024
Tim was a Belgrave lad and grew up with a passion for every type of sport, both playing and spectating.
Always Competitive
Always competitive, he played many types of sport throughout his life but particularly rugby and latterly golf, always with ease and great ability. He held, from his youth, season tickets for Leicester City and The Tigers and rarely missed a match.
Family Friends
Our two families grew up together when Tim and my brother became ‘best friends’ from the tender age of 3 having met at Nursery! Much of our lives revolved around St. Michael and All Angels Church, Belgrave, with numerous social activities which included our youth club drama group. It was with the ‘Glendonians’ we first ‘trod the boards’ when Tim starred as Aladdin and later as ‘The Beast’ in Beauty and the Beast.
Although Tim has never been local to Kibworth, he was coaxed back on stage and became an integral part of Last Minute Theatre in 2010 when he performed in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as a 6ft tall ‘Sleepy’, followed by the repeat casting (such was his popularity) as Captain Bilge, in various Pantomimes.
He has been ‘Master of Ceremonies’ for a variety of productions and has also been involved with the technical side. Demonstrating his skills on the lighting board, and displaying his artistic talents, designing and painting to scale full backdrops.
Much loved, special irreplaceable person
His knowledge, great sense of humour, positivity and love for life make Tim a very much loved, special, irreplaceable person.
He is sorely missed.
