Local charity wins Multiply Initiative Numeracy Award

Market Harborough based Home-Start South Leicestershire were delighted to win the award for Innovative Substantive Delivery. Multiply commented:
“By weaving budgeting, price comparisons, and portion calculations into meal preparation, the course has empowered parents to develop confidence with numbers in a practical and supportive way.”
Emma Pickering, who led the delivery of the charity’s Healthy Lifestyles course, attended the award ceremony at Leicestershire Council Chamber on 21 February. Over the past three years, the government-funded Multiply initiative has helped hundreds of adults across Leicestershire build confidence with numbers, making a real difference in their lives.

Charity Manager, Stella Renwick, said:
“We are extremely proud that Emma’s hard work and dedication has been acknowledged and rewarded by the Multiply Initiative. It is also worth adding, that without the support of our volunteer team, we would not be able to run our biannual Healthy Lifestyle course, as a team of volunteers support parents in the kitchen and another team help to look after their children in our crèche.”
We’re looking for new volunteers
Home-Start South Leicestershire helps families with young children across the whole Harborough District. We are currently looking for new volunteers from a range of backgrounds to join their friendly team. The next eight-session course of preparation starts on Wednesday 30 April.
