Kibworth Parents Association

Hello from Kibworth Parents Association (KPA). For those who haven’t heard of us we are a group of parent and teacher volunteers from Kibworth Primary School. We work together to create fun events for the pupils, fund raise for the school and help enhance the school community. We want to thank the Kibworth and District Chronicle for letting us include this column into the publication.

This school term we have been continuing some of our well established events such our movie nights for students which took place in February. Our school disco coming up on Friday 4 April. These events are well attended and we love to see the students enjoying themselves.

World Book Day

We’re also trialling a new World Book Day initiative where students can select a ‘new’ book from a collection of donated pre-loved books. We want to thank those from the community who have donated to this project. An extra shout to Kibworth Community Library who donated a large number of books. Hopefully if the project goes well we can create an annual event for the pupils to look forward to.

Play Initiative

We have been working with the school to identify ways the KPA can help out with the OPAL play initiative in place. This programme aims to enhance lunch times for children by focusing on improving play. With an increasing amount of time being spent on screens and inside, this is such an important way to help children rediscover the wonder of play. Each month we will share a list of items on social media that the OPAL team are collecting. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.

Behind the scenes we are working on improving our provision of pre-loved school uniform. We believe that this is a really important service both financially and environmentally. Whilst we are unable, as yet, to take new donations, we are sorting all that we have and are planning the best ways to share this with our school families.

Summer Fair

We are also excited to share that we have started planning to bring back the school summer fair. Whilst this is a daunting task we have some amazing volunteers who are approaching the project with energy and enthusiasm. We can’t wait to share more details as they are finalised.

If you are interested in seeing what the KPA are up to, please follow us on social media. We have Facebook and Instagram pages. For those who want to find out about opportunities to get involved we have a private Facebook group just for parents and carers. We’d love for you to join. We can also be contacted on kpakibworth@gmail.com.
