Memories of Lockdown – March 23rd 2020

The day normality disappeared.

Peace! Quiet roads,

Spring sunshine,

BUT…

Queueing …two metres apart,

Any toilet rolls left?

Masks and steamed-up glasses

And long fringes covering eyes.

Clubs, weddings all cancelled.

School’s out, felt like Forever,

But no happy children playing in the park.

No examinations but TEST, TEST, TEST!

Later isolated in year groups at school.

In and out of lockdown by area,

Shut away from those we loved.

AND…

The depths of despair for those we lost without

The chance to say goodbye.

SURVIVAL:

Printing 750 photos, adding to the family album,

Sharing funny images that made us smile.

Virtual meetings courtesy of Zoom!

Discovering Suffragettes on Future Learn.

Muddy solo walks,

Sunshine and Butterfly Count.

Thursday’s virtual quiz,

Updating the Family Tree.

Hearing the voices of those we love.

CHOCOLATE!

First swim socially distanced,

Groups of 6!

Human contact.
