Hedge Planting at Kibworth Mead Academy

As part of environmental improvements around the Kibworth Mead Academy site, we planted 1,000 hedge whips around the Academy’s car park areas. A total of over 100 enthusiastic Year 8 students planted them throughout a warm March day, Thursday 20.

Key Stage Lead, Beth Palmer of KMA, coordinated the event. And Suzi Clampin, Landscape Designer and Harborough Woodland committee member created the design. Hopefully the current Year 8 students involved will see the hedges flourish in their remaining years at the Academy, appreciating the importance of hedges and trees in their immediate environment.

Other Harborough Woodland members helping on the day were Lou Dare, Kimberley Durham and Marco Roginski.

Any hedge whips not used were ‘heeled in’ in order to survive the summer. They are available for future plantings next season.
