The twenty second Burton Overy Christmas Tree Festival since the year 2000, took place at St Andrew’s Church, during the weekend of the 1st- 3rd December.
Lots to look forward to at Christmas but what about the New Year? Do you enjoy singing or listening to music? Most of us do. The Foxton Community Choir will be holding a Taster Evening on Thursday 11 January 2024 from 7.30pm in Foxton Church.
Kibworth Ladies Choir Concert Thank you to everyone who joined us for a fabulous night of 'Music from the Movies' on 25 November, and especially to Kibworth Ladies Choir who worked so hard to truly make it a night to remember! We were delighted to have a full house at St Wilfrid's. The proceeds will be split equally between The Well, LOROS and St Wilfrid's, whose portion will be put towards an improved accessible entrance.
After our usual service in St. Wilfrid’s Church in Kibworth, members of the Mothers Union gathered for their October meeting in the Church Hall to hear a talk by Liz Scott on her recent experience of hosting a guest from the Ukraine.
What a fantastic concert many of us enjoyed in St. Wilfrid’s Church last Saturday evening, 4 November. This was a joint venture between the Friends of St. Wilfrid’s and the Harborough Singers.
In 1086 the recorded population of Glooston was eight. This increased to 177 by 1831 but steadily declined to a mere 54 in the 2001 census. There has been some new housing adjacent to the road to Goadby doubling the population now to 119 in 2021.
As Christmas begins to draw near and we are looking ahead to our celebrations. Our TV Screens and Newspapers appear filled with nothing but news about the wars between Ukraine and Russia and Israel and Gaza. Do you sometimes despair and wonder what you can possibly say or do?
Bob Barrett and Rosie Marcel will star in the Harborough Singers traditional Celebrity Christmas Concert this year. Both appeared in the long running medical drama ‘Holby City’. Bob played Sacha Levy, famous for his snazzy shirts. Rosie was the formidable, flame-haired heart surgeon, Jac Naylor.
