On a very showery grey day, for an hour in the afternoon the sun shone brightly through the stained glass window of Kibworth Methodist Chapel. The chapel was full with about 75 people present on St David’s Day for the World Day of Prayer.

Palm Sunday - 24 March

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and is a time when Christians reflect and prepare for the celebrations of Easter. Some people eat frugally or give up treats following the example of Jesus, who fasted for forty days in the wilderness. Others give to charity, set aside time to study the Bible and meet with other Christians to reflect on Jesus' life.

Carlton Curlieu church was granted before 1081 to the abbey of St. Evroul (Orne), with five virgates of land. A priest is mentioned at Carlton in 1086. (Doomsday)

At a recent church service, the older members of our congregation were invited to share ‘words of encouragement and hope’ with the younger generation present. These words are just as relevant to offer to the younger readers of today’s Kibworth Chronicle.

Saddington is 10 miles south-east of Leicester and 6 miles north-west of Market Harborough. The pretty village of Saddington has a population of around 250 and is almost a suburb of its nearest neighbour Fleckney.

2023 has been an eventful year. A Coronation to celebrate. But also, a terrible year. War in Ukraine, the worsening ecological crisis, the conflict in Israel and Palestine. With these things and much more globally, we have had much to pray for and will still do so in 2024.
