Kibworth & District u3a announces its next Tuesday Social on 20 July

Hello everyone.

On Thursday 27 May Kibworth Golf Club members Graham Thompson and John Addison completed their 12 hour, 54 hole golf challenge in aid of LOROS. The challenge was in memory of past members Nick Lacey and Rod Mitchell who sadly passed away within 24 hours of each other at LOROS Hospice last October.

As you may know, we provide a foodbank and clothes bank at The Well on Kibworth High Street. Additionally, the charity is now pioneering other ways of assisting people to find their own way forward in life.

I wonder whether you have heard of the paper published in 1796 titled 'An Inquiry into the Causes and Effects of Variolae Vaccinae.’ If so, you are likely to be a member of the medical profession or a scientist. It was written by a surgeon and scientist whose respect and affection for the natural world was founded on seeing it as creation based on his Christian faith

Interested in getting into shape, being more healthy & more active!

The G7 Summit has recently taken place in Carbis Bay, Cornwall, and we can see how useful it was for moving forwards in dealing with the climate crisis that faces us now, and with vaccines for all to stop the Covid pandemic.

Interestingly, we have connections to Russian Royalty in Leicestershire. In last month’s Kibworth & District Chronicle, ‘Duggie’s Ramblings’ referred to an obituary, HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

We are undertaking a mammoth task of digitalising the entire Kibworth & District Chronicle back catalogue. The Chronicle has published over 400 editions, since it was founded in April 1978.

From Monday 12 April all boaters were finally allowed to move. Hire boats could start up again, albeit still with restrictions on numbers and households.
