Restoration work on the Kibworth Windmill has continued throughout the last month despite some heavy rain and strong winds. Most of the work to repair the bottom of the main post has been completed. Work has started on parts of the upper levels. New sails and steps are being made at the Bristol workshop of the millwrights, Dorothea Restorations. They will not be brought to Kibworth until all the other work has been completed.

Like a number of venues, Kibworth Village Hall are really pleased to be open again, and welcoming back all our usual hirers. We are extremely sorry to see the Village Hall Pre-School close after 51 years. I’m sure that countless Kibworthians and their children and grand-children will have enjoyed their time at the Village Hall Pre-School. All our best wishes go to Sue, Jackie and Jean and all their staff in whatever they choose to do next.

My parents, Len and Edna Bowden, met in London when my mum was 15. Three years later on 28 October 1961, they got married in Hendon and settled into married life in Northamptonshire. My sister Angie and I were born there and then we moved to Kibworth in the mid-seventies.
