Tackling climate change, conserving our heritage, and keeping people safe are just some of the priorities set out in a major new blueprint. Coming out in November, residents will get the chance to have their say in the refreshed strategic plan.
Driving along the A6 the other morning I glanced briefly towards the closed gates of Kibworth Recycling and Household Waste site (known to all as ‘The Tip’) and immediately came to mind the lyrics of the well-known Joni Mitchell song ‘Big Yellow Taxi’, in particular the line,
New powers have been introduced to tackle the use of psychoactive substances and ‘legal highs’ linked to anti-social behaviour. These new powers include tackling the use of nitrous oxide, sometimes known as 'laughing gas’.
I have written previously about the impending closure for redevelopment of our nearest Recycling and Household Waste site, the Kibworth Tip. I have now had confirmation that it is to close on Monday 1 November and remain closed for up to 12 months. The improvements will provide more bays and will make the site easier to use. A planned split-level surface meaning that customers no longer have to climb steps to access the skips. They will also improve traffic flow. HGVs at the site will be separated from the area used by the public to further improve safety. Residents are asked to use either of the centres on Wigston Road, Oadby, and Riverside, Market Harborough while the work is completed.
