Born and bred in Leicestershire, one of my earliest childhood memories was of accompanying my father to the Council Offices in Thurnby. To a young child it felt like a place you didn’t mess about in. I knew it was an important place in my father’s eyes, but never understood why. I think he went there to pay his rates. 

The parish council’s monthly public meeting was held on 23 April in the Studio at the Kibworth Community Hub.

Wednesday 15 May was when I handed over the chairman’s chains after two fantastic years representing the 712,000 citizens of Leicestershire.

Following a large response to the previous consultation, the county council have decided to keep the Market Harborough and Shepshed sites open. However, savings still need to be made so people can have their say on some new proposals.
