When writing an editorial one often wonders if they are read! In January I wrote the shortest editorial ever and ended it with a request to keep sending us your thoughts in letter form. We were completely unready for the deluge of letters that arrived ready for February’s publication. Thank you!

Narumi says, “I’m one of the vets at Ash Tree with a certificate in veterinary ophthalmology. We have been enjoying our indoor carpet bowls competitions this winter. This year’s winners of the Hollingsworth Cup were Les Cowley and Sue Graves (pictured below), who beat Eileen Clayton and Helen Nourish by just one shot in a nail-biting final.

Gardening is a fantastic way to stay active, boost your mood, and enjoy nature. However, it can also lead to common injuries if you don’t take care of your body. From lower back pain to sore knees and inflamed elbows, the repetitive and physical nature of gardening can take its toll.

Organised by the Welland Valley Cycling Club, a Macmillan Charity Cycle Ride will be held on Saturday 13 June.

Kilby ‘Get To Know Your Neighbours’ held their annual Skittles Night at The Conservative Club in Wigston on Friday 20^th February. This year’s winners were Iain Jones for the Mens’ Team and Gill Parsons won on behalf of the Ladies’ Team. A raffle was held and £80 was raised, with the money going to the Kilby Woodland Trust. Thanks go to everyone concerned in organising the teams and to the staff at the Conservative Club for the supper.

Well, I’m sure you won’t need me to tell you that the start to 2026 has seen a little bit of rain. This hasn’t stopped the Fleckney and Kibworth runners though. First out of the starting blocks was Ellie Holland. She raced in the Harewood House Trail Races, Canicross 10k in 1.16.

Landlines are changing, and the UK’s telephone network is going digital by January 2027.

This will be my last update from KCH, as from 31 March the charity will be dissolved and the lease and running of Kibworth Community Hub will be taken over by Kibworth Beauchamp Parish Council. I have been chair on three separate occasions now and, although there have been trials and tribulation on the way, it has never been less than a privilege to serve the village.
