Carole Craig has handed the Kibworth & District Chronicle another item of Kibworth memorabilia - a copy of the Kibworth Carnival programme for August 1978 - the year the Chronicle commenced publication.

I recently attended the funeral and burial of a former neighbour. The service was held at Great Glen crematorium. The interment was in the natural burial area at Kibworth Cemetery on the A6, Harborough Road.

Having overcome so many ‘last minute’ crises - involving three major players - with ‘Jubilee’, our 25th Anniversary production, Last Minute Theatre is well on the way to producing its annual pantomime.
Written jointly by Helen Cullinane and Nicole Lambert, 2026 will bring a unique production of ‘Robin Hood.’
Kibworth has been struggling to cope with increasing traffic volumes over many years. Even seemingly trivial requests for improvements have been turned down by the Highways authorities whilst the perceived dangers to pedestrians and cyclists through motor traffic have steadily increased, as expressed by many residents in the surveys carried out as part of the Neighbourhood Plan.

We have lived in Kibworth for more than 50 years and whilst decluttering recently for an upcoming house move, I came across a programme for the Kibworth & Smeeton Show 1975 - 50 years ago, even before The Kibworth Chronicle!

On Friday 15 September, Kibworth and Fleckney Rotary Club held their annual Charity Golf Day at Kibworth Golf Club. At one o’clock the 18, 4-ball teams teed off simultaneously, a shot gun start, from all 18 tees. We were lucky with the weather and, after a fun round of golf, the teams all congregated back at the clubhouse for a buffet meal.

Rehearsals for our Christmas Show, ‘Rhyme and Treason,’ are continuing apace. Lines are learnt (almost) costumes are being fitted and props are being bought. The next stage will be building the set.
