The Picnic in the Park was enjoyed enormously by all who attended. The bouncy slide was enjoyed by young and old and despite it being a little chilly, at least it didn’t rain this year. The candyfloss stall was kept very busy and children’s races, dog agility and the Tug of War were great fun.

Although the weather finally picked up for the start of the school holidays, there have still not been very many boats through. The situation is similar elsewhere, and some hire companies have half their fleets tied up, which is highly unusual, and a worry. Visitors come to the canals to see boats, and boater spend is important to the local economy.

Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital will be holding a table top sale on Saturday 12 October, in Kibworth Village Hall, LE8 0LN, from 10am until 12.45pm. There will be a good variety of stalls including handmade cards, jewellery, craft stalls, bird and hedgehog food, lots of pre-loved clothes at bargain prices, plants, jigsaws, raffle, Grand Prize Draw, plus lots more. We will be serving toasted sandwiches, hot drinks and our delicious homemade cakes, to eat in or take home for later, all at very competitive prices.
