The Summer Reading Challenge finished on Saturday 7 September and two lucky medal winners won a fantastic goody-bag each, very generously donated by Debbie at Kibworth Books. Huge congratulations to Ellie and Toby!

Since the last Kibworth & District Chronicle landed on our doorsteps we’ve made some fantastic progress with our new land by the railway line. 

From 30 September, the new opening days for the Kibworth and Market Harborough Recycling and Waste Sites will begin.

The Picnic in the Park was enjoyed enormously by all who attended. The bouncy slide was enjoyed by young and old and despite it being a little chilly, at least it didn’t rain this year. The candyfloss stall was kept very busy and children’s races, dog agility and the Tug of War were great fun.

What can we do to eat good-quality food at an affordable price – thinking of those on low incomes – as well as value our local farmers and reduce our carbon footprints?

Over the summer months, members of the Fleckney & Kibworth Running Club have made the most of fine weather and taken part in many races and events. 

The Leader of Harborough District Council has received a letter from the government confirming that the new prison at Gartree, approved under the previous government, will still be built.

Although the weather finally picked up for the start of the school holidays, there have still not been very many boats through. The situation is similar elsewhere, and some hire companies have half their fleets tied up, which is highly unusual, and a worry. Visitors come to the canals to see boats, and boater spend is important to the local economy.
