Foxton Primary School’s New Water Play Area

Foxton Primary School is delighted to announce the opening of its brand-new water play and loose parts area. This is a dynamic addition to its already stunning outdoor grounds, designed to inspire creativity, teamwork, and hands-on learning. This innovative playscape, part-funded by the East Midlands Railway Community Fund, promises to transform playtime into an enriching educational experience. The newly constructed area incorporates a water pump, channels, and loose parts. It reflects the historical and geographical significance of the nearby Foxton Locks and canal system. Through this interactive environment, children will engage in imaginative play. Meanwhile they will learn about water flow and the rich history of their local community.

Back in September we published a letter from Margaret Budd (nee Hitchcock) who with her mother and aunt, was evacuated to Kibworth in the Second World War. They stayed with Mrs Partidge at The Warren.

In this production Mark Rylance gives an imaculate nuanced performance as the ever thoughtful Thomas Cromwell. It is interesting to note that Cromwell, who with his son Gregory have a strong connection to Leicestershire especially with nearby Launde Abbey.

Magic Moments

After Harborough Town’s FA Cup victory vs Tonbridge, Leonard, a Kibworth Primary School pupil, declared that, “I’m going to get a ‘pick in the box’ at school for really good reading.” A ‘pick in the box’ is a box of treats pupils at Leonard’s school are rewarded with  for very good work. Leonard continued, “I’m going to pick a trophy and give it to the Harborough Town keeper at the Reading match, to say well done for doing really well.” True to Leonard’s word, a few days later he returned home with the trophy he’d selected, which he’d earned for very good reading.

Christmas message from the Churches of Kibworth - December 2024

Christmas is a time for excitement and celebration, and the joy of family and friends. It also brings pressure and expectations; hustle and bustle. It can, for many people, be a painful time: of loneliness, poverty or homelessness. If we look closely at the stories of the birth of Jesus in the Bible, we can find all these things too. The Nativity story shows us that Jesus came into the real world - the world of our mess and grief.  And yet people found God right there in the midst of it all, leading to thankfulness, joy and praise.
