We held our 20th Bluebell Open Day at The Old Rectory, Gumley, on Sunday 27 April. And for once had absolutely perfect conditions for it. After last year’s drizzle and notwithstanding the fortitude of the 300-odd brave patrons who came then, this year felt like a Chelsea garden moment. The recent cold nights holding the flowers back so that they peaked just at the right time.

Our annual Charity Golf Day this year is Friday 22 August at Glen Gorse Golf Club, Oadby. Teams of 4, £220 per team. This will again include bacon roll, coffee on arrival, 18 holes of golf followed by a meal. Afterwards with team and individual prizes. We will also be having a raffle. So if you are able to donate a raffle prize please contact me on my email. I will be happy to collect. This year we are looking for local businesses to have an opportunity to become sponsors for the event.

At the commencement of last month, the nominations for the County Council elections were officially closed. The entire county of Leicestershire, comprising 55 seats, was subject to the electoral process. The Kibworth & District Chronicle solicited written hustings from all local candidates, with the intention of publishing them in the April edition. Regrettably, only two candidates endeavoured to provide a hustings of approximately 250 words, which was subsequently printed. This begs the question: are these candidates heavily reliant on social media platforms or leaflet drops for disseminating their messages?
