There have been some scarcely believable happenings in the natural world this year, both locally and nationally.

It was with deep regret that we had to cancel our ABBA night in October. This was due to circumstances beyond our control and we apologise for any inconvenience. We are hoping to re-schedule this event in the spring.

For many summers Dave Harris’s colourful sunflowers have delighted and amazed residents and passers-by in Kimberley Street, Kibworth. This year’s display (pictured here) was even more specular. Not just one flower atop the stalk, but stunning multi blooms appeared along its length climbing 5m (over 16ft) skywards from ground to roof top.  Well done Dave.

I recently read a copy of the Market Harborough Advertiser dated Monday 2^nd October 1854 and found a couple of items relating to Market Harborough and Kibworth that I feel sure will be of interest.

The first official census was in 1801, but the 1841 census, run by the new registration service, is regarded as the first modern census.

Our English Men’s Champion Club Winners 2023 travelled over to Troia Golf Club in Portugal at the end of October to compete for the European Men’s Club Trophy.

Optical Assistant Carol Barker celebrates her 30th year with Edmonds and Slatter independent opticians this November, making it her pearl anniversary! She joined the company in 1993 and has remained part of the Glenfield practice team ever since.
