I get it. Life is busy, and the world seems to spin faster and faster each day. Any spare minutes are precious, so we should use them wisely. However, we absorb these moments and scroll aimlessly through social media or the news. This does not benefit us much mentally or physically. So, I am on a mini-mission to encourage you to recapture your time and use it to serve you inside and out.

Here in Smeeton, we love this time of year as we begin to look forward to Christmas and what better way to start than to come to our very own Christmas Fayre on Saturday 18 November, 2 - 4pm in the village Hall. Santa and his elfin helper will be in their Grotto to give out pre-Christmas cheer and presents; there will be great stalls to look at and fun activities to try your hands at and, of course, delicious cakes and mince pies that can all be washed down with mulled wine or tea and coffee. We try to keep the prices as low as possible to make the afternoon accessible to all. So please come and join us!

It’s show time again! The Kibworth Theatre Company and the Main Street Theatre Company are proud to present this fun yet emotive production, One Night Only. The show, being performed jointly by our two groups, is interspersed with songs from the musicals that will keep your feet tapping throughout. It tells the story of an amateur dramatic group, with all its quirks and foibles, who get the opportunity to enter a competition for a chance to perform at The London Palladium in front of Andrew Lloyd Webber.

We recently held our annual Presentation Evening at the Crown Inn, Tur Langton where we enjoyed a delicious carvery and dessert. Cups and trophies were awarded to our many talented indoor and outdoor bowlers. These included Malcolm Moss (pictured) who was our Men’s Champion and ‘Champion of Champions’.

As many readers will know, Kibworth & Fleckney Rotary Club had to cancel their Charity Bonfire & Fireworks, Saturday 4 November. It is the first time in the history of this event that the weather has been so against us. With the field opposite the top of New Road Kibworth already soaked by storm Babet, storm Ciaraán was the final straw.
